With summer break upon us, now could be the perfect time to start planning things to do with the kids. Take a boat ride through Bluespring Caverns, explore science at the Wonderlab, or get your game on at Rascal’s Fun Zone. Starting as soon as now, you could get your tickets to some of these amazing places listed below!
Bluespring Caverns
Discovered as early as the 19th century, this underground cavern experience is an adventure for the whole family. With a constant temperature of 53 degrees, the only thing you’ll need is a light jacket and a pair of good walking shoes. But exploring the cavern isn’t the only thing to do here. Outside you can hunt for gems in the Myst’ry River Gemstone Mine. Bluespring Cavern is also the home to what could be Indiana’s largest karst plain sinkhole that is over 9 feet deep and covers 10 acres. Located in Bedford Indiana, this could be the perfect day trip for you and the kids.
Wonderlab
This museum of science, health and technology is the perfect place to let curious young minds explore and learn. Whether the kiddos want to do some soapy science in the Bubble-Airium or get up close to study insects, amphibians or reptiles in the Fitzgerald Hall of Natural Science, the Wonderlab makes science fun. They even have a new Saltwater Aquarium you can visit. Plan a day trip or even book an event through their website.
Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari
Roller coasters and water slides and giant swings, oh my! There’s something here for the whole family. Visit the different holidays throughout the park and even catch a sighting of Santa Claus if you’re lucky. The big man himself even has a Merry Marketplace opening up sometime this year. But this amusement park has more to offer than just rides and water fun. They also have family freebies, such as soft drinks, sunscreen, parking and even Wifi. They have season passes or just tickets if you’re only there for the day. Hop on over to their website and check out what Holiday World is all about.
Children’s Museum
If you and your family have a case of cabin fever, get out and visit Indiana’s biggest and best Children’s Museum! It’s the perfect way for the kids to burn off some of that pent up winter energy. With five whole floors of fun, there’s lots to see and do. Whether you want to ride the carousel, climb through the Playscape or explore the work of real scientists, the Children’s Museum has a little bit for everyone. Visit their website to plan your own trip.
Indianapolis Zoo
With the start of spring just around the corner, planning a trip to the Indianapolis Zoo may be just what the doctor ordered to rid yourself of those winter blues. The all new spring festival Xzooberance will be underway, making the zoo a top destination for spring break. It features three whole weeks of music, dance, art and of course some pretty extraordinary animals too. Take a walk through White River Gardens, pet a shark, get an amazing view on the gondola-style ride called the Skyline, or experience a thrill on the Kōmbo Family Coaster. Whatever it is you choose, the Indianapolis Zoo is sure to offer an unforgettable family experience.
Rascal’s Fun Zone
Eleven whole acres of fun await you at Indiana’s largest indoor and outdoor family fun park. Zoom around on go-carts on their indoor and outdoor tracks, play mini-golf or mini-bowling, float around on Blaster Boats that are fully equipped with water cannons or just earn some tickets inside their large arcade. Party planning is available but it’s also okay to just go and spend the day too. Located in Whiteland Indiana, Rascal’s Fun Zone doesn’t disappoint.
Indiana Beach
When you think of Indiana, the last thing most people think about is the beach. But believe it or not we actually have one. It’s not your typical ocean view. Indiana Beach Amusement and Water Park actually sits on Lake Shafer in Monticello Indiana. Take a swim or enjoy some of the many rides that they have available. Staying overnight is even an option as well, where you can turn a day trip into a much needed weekend getaway. Check out their website for more information.
